Lyrics
Intro - Deep male spoken, Rhodes and distant brass
Isaiah forty-five... God declared that every knee would bow. Centuries later, Paul wrote about Jesus. And suddenly, those ancient words carried a name.
Verse 1 - Male, deep rhythmic storytelling
Isaiah forty-five, a call to all the earth, Turn to God for salvation, hear what mercy's worth. The idols couldn't answer, they couldn't save a soul, The Lord declared there's none beside Him, He alone is God. He swore it by Himself, a word that would remain, Every knee would bow before Him, every tongue proclaim. No kingdom could undo it, no passing age erase, A promise spoken to the nations, long before we saw His face.
Male - Smooth melodic lift
Now turn the pages forward, Hear those ancient words again. What Isaiah spoke of God, Paul connects to Jesus' name.
Chorus - Soulful male tenor, full bass and dancing trombones
Every knee, every tongue, Will confess that Christ is Lord. The King who knelt to wash their feet, Gave His life to set us free. Every knee, every tongue, Heaven, earth will know the Son. Before that final day arrives, I call You Lord with all my life.
Verse 2 - Male, rhythmic singing, funky brass replies
Philippians chapter two, Paul tells us how to live, With a humble heart like Jesus, putting others first in love. Though existing in God's form, He didn't cling to privilege, He took the place of a servant, came among us as a man. Remember John thirteen, see the towel in His hand, The Lord and Teacher washing feet, doing what a servant can. Then obedient to the cross, He chose the path of sacrifice, The One who humbled Himself was raised to everlasting life.
Male - Melodic, building conviction
So the Father highly raised Him, Gave the name above all names. And Isaiah's ancient language Now declares the Savior's reign.
Chorus - Male tenor, layered male harmonies, punchy horns
Every knee, every tongue, Will confess that Christ is Lord. The King who knelt to wash their feet, Gave His life to set us free. Every knee, every tongue, Heaven, earth will know the Son. Before that final day arrives, I call You Lord with all my life.
Verse 3 - Male, intimate soulful storytelling
Joel chapter two, a promise through the years, Whoever calls upon the Lord will find salvation near. Now Romans chapter ten, Paul brings the truth to light, Confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, believe God raised Him into life. Not merely words upon our lips, but trusting from the heart, Not something we can earn ourselves, God's mercy is the start. No difference between Jew and Greek, the invitation stands, The same Lord welcomes all who call, with mercy in His hands.
Male - Fully melodic singing
One day the world will know His reign, But knowing isn't always faith. While grace invites us to believe, I choose to call on Him today.
Bridge - Female soulful singing, Rhodes only
He was willing to come down... To lift the fallen from the ground. The One who humbled Himself for us Now wears the crown of glory.
Male - Soulful sung response
And if He gave His life for me, How could I turn away?
Both - Rising harmony
Jesus Christ, the risen Lord, I choose to trust Him today.
Instrumental - 4 bars, funky trombone and trumpet call-and-response
Final Chorus - Male tenor lead, mixed gospel harmonies, triumphant brass
Every knee, every tongue, Will confess that Christ is Lord. The King who knelt to wash their feet, Gave His life to set us free. Every knee, every tongue, Heaven, earth will know the Son. Before that final day arrives, I call You Lord with all my life.
Refrain - Male lead, soulful ad-libs
I bow today... Not because the world has told me to. I bow in faith... Because I know what You have done.
Outro - Deep male spoken, soft piano
Isaiah forty-five. Philippians chapter two. Joel chapter two. Romans chapter ten. The Lord who humbled Himself... Is the Lord above every name. And the invitation to believe is open today.
Reading the connection
Isaiah 45:22-23 declares the LORD's exclusive sovereignty and summons the nations. Philippians 2:9-11 applies its knee-bowing and confessing language to the exalted Jesus.
Romans 14:11 directly quotes Isaiah's language. Romans 10:9-13 addresses confession of Jesus as Lord and quotes Joel 2:32 in verse 13, not Isaiah 45. Keep these distinct sources and applications clear.
Passage notes
Thematic echo
Paul closely reuses Isaiah’s universal-bowing language for Jesus; Romans 14:11 formally quotes Isaiah. Romans 10:13 quotes Joel 2:32. Universal acknowledgment of lordship is not an assertion of universal saving faith.
Discussion questions
- How does Isaiah 45 contrast the LORD with idols and invite the nations?
- How does Philippians 2:5-11 join Jesus’ humility with His exaltation?
- How does Romans 10:9-13 distinguish trusting confession from mere spoken words?
